Two die, four missing in boat capsizing in Myanmar's southern region

YANGON, Oct. 6 (Xinhua) -- Two passengers have been killed and four others missing in a ferry boat capsizal in the Taninthayi River in southern Myanmar's Tanintharyi region, the official Global New Light of Myanmar reported Friday.

Both of the two victims are elder women.

The tragedy occurred as the ferry, with about 30 people on board, was on its way from Min Thann to Man Hlaw villages on the river Thursday morning.

Rescue efforts for the missing passengers are underway by the local authorities with the help of divers, the report added.
