SEOUL, Aug. 30 (Xinhua) -- Four people were dead and two others went missing Wednesday in a fishing boat capsizing accident in the waters off the southeastern coast of South Korea, according to Yonhap news agency.

The 27-ton South Korean fishing boat was found capsized in high waves at about 4:30 a.m. local time (1930 GMT Tuesday) in the waters some 40 km from Cape Homi near the country's southeastern port city of Pohang, the Coast Guard was quoted as saying.

The Coast Guard, which received the report from a merchant ship at about 12:50 p.m. local time, rescued the captain and two others from the ship carrying nine crew members.

Four others were rescued unconscious from inside the vessel, and were taken to a nearby hospital via a helicopter. But the four men died later at hospital.

Rescuers were currently searching for the two missing men.

For the rescue operation, the Coast Guard sent three helicopters and 10 vessels, while the Navy mobilized a vessel and three choppers.
