MADRID, Nov. 9 (Xinhua) -- Spain's prosecutor has requested unconditional jail for four members of the Catalan Bureau of Chamber, local media reported on Thursday.

Former speaker of the Catalan parliament Carme Forcadell was questioned on Thursday along with other five members of the bureau over charges of rebellion, sedition and misuse of funds.

The prosecutor requested unconditional jail for Forcadell, Anna Simo, Lluis Corominas and Lluis Guino, while Ramona Barrufet could avoid prison paying a bail of 50,000 euros (58,228 U.S. dollars) and Joan Josep Nuet would be set free with precautionary measures such as regular appearances.

The Catalan parliament unilaterally declared the independence of Spain's northeastern region of Catalonia on Oct. 27. The Spanish government in response applied the article 155 of the Spanish constitution intervening in the autonomous region and taking control of some of its bodies as well as calling fresh elections on Dec. 21.

All members questioned accepted the application of the article and explained that the vote for the independence at the parliament had no legal effect.

Meanwhile, eight former members of the regional government of Catalonia, Generalitat, are in prison after Spanish judge Carmen Lamela jailed them without bail after considering there was a risk of flight and destruction of evidence.

Former regional president of Catalonia Carles Puigdemont is in Brussels with other four members of his government. Lamela issued a European arrest warrant for them.
