ANKARA, Oct. 17 (Xinhua) -- At least six workers were killed and another injured after a coal mine collapsed in Turkey's southeastern Province of Sirnak on Tuesday, local news channel NTV reported.
The rescue team was also searching for another worker trapped inside the mine in Sirnak's Cizre district, according to the report.
The wounded worker was removed from under the rubble and taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, it added.
The rescue squad staff from Turkey's Disaster and Emergency Management Authority and the National Medical Recovery Team units were dispatched to the scene.
Gendarmerie units have taken security precautions in the district.
The Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources said in a statement that the mine was operating illegally without a license.
