THE HAGUE, Aug. 7(Xinhua) -- The Dutch national women's soccer team was honored in Utrecht on Monday in front of 12,500 fans for winning the women's Euro 2017.

The European champions arrived at the fully packed Lepelenburg Park after a small parade per boat in the beginning of the evening. One by one the players entered the stage and they received a massive applause by the 12,500 fans.

Captains Mandy van den Berg and Sharida Spitse came on as last with the cup. "Thank you fans, this is better than in our dreams," they said.

The performances of the Dutch soccer women at the tournament caused a wave of enthusiasm across the country in the past weeks. On Sunday the team coached by Sarina Wiegman put the crown on their work by beating Denmark 4-2 in the final in Enschede.
