RAMALLAH, Nov. 21 (Xinhua) -- Palestinian Foreign Minister Riad Malki said Tuesday there is a "significant retraction" in the U.S. position regarding the closure of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) office in Washington.

He said in statements to official Palestinian radio station, Voice of Palestine, that the U.S. administration are contacting the Palestinian side to find a way out of this issue, he said.

"We said that if the U.S. closes the office, it would loose role to play in the political process and contacts will be put on hold with," said Malki.

Last Saturday, the U.S. threatened to shut down the PLO office in Washington if the Palestinians continue to pursue Israeli "crimes" in front of the International Criminal Court (ICC) and not engage in "serious peace negotiations" with Israel.

The peace talks between Palestine and Israel have been stalled since April 2014. The U.S.-sponsored talks that lasted for nine months achieved no tangible results.
