MADRID, Nov. 10 (Xinhua) -- Former speaker of the Catalan regional parliament, Carme Forcadell, has paid her 150,000 euros (174,640 euros) bail after spending a night in prison, local media reported on Friday.
Forcadell, who was questioned on Thursday along with other five members of the Catalan parliament, was jailed after being unable to pay the amount on Thursday night.
She left the Alcala-Meco prison, in Madrid, a few hours after paying the bail.
According to local media, the amount of 150,000 euros was paid from a "solidarity box" of the Catalan National Assembly (ANC), a pro-independence organization who was gathering money to pay possible bails.
Forcadell was president of the association before entering in the Catalan parliament. She was accused of rebellion and the prosecutor had asked unconditional prison, but the judge decided that there was not risk of flight after Forcadell appeared in court every time she was requested.
The judge said Forcadell had played a major role in the process of separatism than other former members of the parliament board. She was former leader of the ANC and the speaker of the Catalan parliament afterwards, where the law of the referendum and the transitory law to establish a republic were passed.
She has delivered her passport, cannot leave the country and has to appear in court once a week and every time she is requested to.
Other former members of the board, Lluis Corominas, Lluis Guino, Anna Simo and Ramona Barrufet have a week to pay a 25,000-euro bail, while Joan Josep Nuet, who had voted against the independence, was set free without precautionary measures.
Eight former members of the deposed regional government of Catalonia are still in prison after the Spanish judge, Carmen Lamela, jailed them without bail, claiming that there was a risk of flight and destruction of evidence.
Jordi Sanchez and Jordi Cuixart, leaders of two civil society organizations -- ANC and Omnium Cultural -- are also still in jail.
Former regional president of Catalonia, Carles Puigdemont, is in Brussels with other four members of his government. Judge Lamela had issued a European arrest warrant for them.
