YANGON, Nov. 10 (Xinhua) -- A total of 1,696 villages have now electricity access in Myanmar's Rakhine state, official Global New Light of Myanmar reported Friday.
In terms of households, about 77,408 households in the villages have been provided power access.
Authorities are exerting efforts to provide electricity from the power grid to 44 villages in Yathedaung, Buthidaung and Maungtaw townships in Rakhine state next year.
Before the provision of electricity from the power grid is accomplished, electricity will be provided with diesel generators, according to the Ministry of Electricity and Energy.
