KABUL, Oct. 26 (Xinhua) -- Rivalry and hostilities have increased between the Taliban group and its rival the hardliner Islamic State (IS) outfit in Afghanistan as infighting has claimed the lives of dozens of fighters from both sides in the northern Jawzjan and eastern Nangarhar provinces over the past couple of weeks, security officials said.

In the latest waves of bloody fighting between the two hardliner groups, 15 Taliban fighters were killed after two IS militants clad in burqa (an envelope like veil that covers from head and toe) disguised themselves as women and opened fire on a group of Taliban fighters in Qush Tepa district of Jawzjan on Tuesday, killing 15 armed fighters on the spot.

The deadly attack, according to Aminullah Khan the governor of Qush Tepa district, took place in Chaqmachaqur area on Tuesday and the attackers made their good escape.

To avenge the deadly offensive, Aminullah said that the Taliban militants are preparing to storm on the rival group's positions.

A day earlier on Monday, infighting between Taliban outfit and IS group in Qush Tepa's neighboring district Darzab had left nine Taliban fighters dead, a police spokesman Sayed Sarwar Hussaini said.

More than 50 people from both sides, according to local officials have been killed in infighting for expanding control on villages in Qush Tepa district over the past one week.

Both the rival groups of Taliban and IS have been fighting for power in Qush Tepa and Darzab districts over the past six months rendering hundreds of people to leave their houses for safer places besides claiming countless of lives.

Clash between Taliban and IS group had left over a dozen people from both sides dead in parts of the eastern Nangarhar province couple of weeks ago.

Hostilities between Taliban as the main anti-government armed opposition group and IS have been on rise since emergence of IS in Afghanistan in early 2015 and both the rival groups often fighting to expand their territory in the conflict-hit country.
