ISLAMABAD, Oct. 25 (Xinhua) -- Foreign Minister of Pakistan Khwaja Muhammad Asif said that Pakistan has told U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson that the United States should review its policies in Afghanistan.

After a meeting with Tillerson late Tuesday, the foreign minister told a local TV channel that the secretary was informed that the U.S. assessment in Afghanistan is wrong and it should be blamed for its policies.

The minister said that Tillerson insisted Pakistan deal with the Haqqani Network and other terrorists, who are launching attacks in Afghanistan from Pakistani soil.

Asif said that the guest, who had a four-hour meeting with civil and military leadership, was firmly told that Pakistan is neither protecting nor supporting Haqqani network

He said that the Taliban controls a big piece of land in Afghanistan so they do not need Pakistani land for making their sanctuaries. "There are no safe havens of Taliban in Pakistan, neither do they plan nor execute terrorist attacks from Pakistani soil."

He suggested that the U.S. side should provide actionable intelligence tip-off to Pakistan if they believe that Haqqani network or other Taliban militants are hiding in Pakistan and the Pakistani army will take action against them.

"Our armed forces have taken action against terrorists in military operations (in the past), which have brought forth positive results, we are fighting terrorists for the stability of our country and not for the U.S. or Afghanistan," he said.
