GAZA, Oct. 24 (Xinhua) -- Qatar backs the Egyptian-brokered Palestinian reconciliation deal reached in Cairo between Hamas movement and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas Fatah Party, a senior official said Tuesday.

Qatari ambassador Mohamed Ammadi, chairman of the Qatari Committee to reconstruct Gaza, told a news conference that Qatar supports the Palestinian reconciliation agreements.

"Qatar will keep standing to the side of the Palestinians until they establish their independent Palestinian state on the borders of the fourth of July 1967," said Ammadi, who is visiting in the Gaza Strip for few days.

Qatar has been accused by several Gulf states that it backs Hamas movement, which had violently seized control of the Gaza Strip in mid 2007.

"Our goal has been always easing the hard living situation in the Gaza Strip," he said, adding "we would like to see the Palestinian consensus government taking over in the Gaza Strip."

The Qatari diplomat called on the Palestinian consensus government to resolve the sticky issue of Gaza employees, adding that "any financial support to resolve this issue will certainly goes directly to the Palestinian consensus government."
