DOHA, Oct. 18 (Xinhua) -- Qatari Emiri Air Force has sent a C-17 plane to Mogadishu, Somalia to aid victims of last week's terrorist attack, Qatar News Agency (QNA) reported on Wednesday.

The plane was carrying medical equipment and first aid to help the injured in the terrorist explosions that killed and injured hundreds, the report said.

A Qatari international search and rescue group, and a comprehensive medical team were also sent to participate in the treatment of the wounded, and the evacuation of them through an air bridge for treatment outside Somalia.

Somalia has supported Qatar in its crisis that erupted in June, as Somali civil aviation authorities reported increased Qatar Airways traffic over Somali airspace.

The Saudi Arabia-led Arab quartet, which also includes the UAE, Bahrain and Egypt, cut diplomatic ties with Qatar on June 5 and has imposed an air, sea and land embargo against the tiny gas-rich Gulf state, citing Doha's support to terrorism and extremists, a charge that Qatar has denied.
