SEOUL, Oct. 23 (Xinhua) -- South Korean President Moon Jae-in's approval rating inched down last month on a court decision to extend detention of impeached President Park Geun-hye, a weekly poll showed Monday.

According to the Realmeter survey, support for Moon was 67.8 percent last week, down 0.7 percentage points from a week earlier.

It was based on a poll of 2,557 voters conducted from last Monday to Friday. It had 1.9 percentage points in margin of error with a 95 percent confidence level.

The South Korean court issued another arrest warrant for the ousted President Park, who has been in custody and stood trial over corruption charges, to extend her detention another six months by next April.

Park denounced the extended detention as a political retaliation.

The negative sentiment, however, was offset by the president's comments to accept a state commission's advice to resume construction of two nuclear reactors, of which construction has been suspended for about three months to examine the public opinion on nuclear energy.

The Moon government announced a long-term plan to reduce the country's dependence on nuclear energy for the next 60 years and stop building any further nuclear power plants.

Support for Moon's ruling Democratic Party edged down 0.5 percentage points from a week earlier to 50.1 percent last week, but the party maintained the top post by a wide margin.

The main opposition Liberty Korea Party won 18.1 percent of support last week, down 0.8 percentage points from the previous week.

The central People's Party garnered 6.2 percent, with supports for the minor conservative Righteous Party and the minor progressive Justice Party holding 5.8 percent and 4.9 percent respectively.
