NAIROBI, Oct. 20 (Xinhua) -- Seven people including five passengers escaped unhurt on Friday after a light aircraft crash landed in Kenya's Nairobi National Park soon after taking off from Wilson Airport, one of the country's busiest airports.
A senior airport police officer said the plane from Air Kenya was headed to the world's famous game reserve, Masai Mara, when it developed mechanical problems at around 9 a.m.
"The pilot managed to make an emergency landing on detecting the defect. All the five passengers and two crews on board escaped unhurt," the police officer said via telephone.
The officer said they had launched an investigation to establish the exact cause of the incident since the scene of the accident is common with such incidents.
A number of accidents involving trainee pilots usually occur in the area. Crime experts from the police and Air Accident Investigation Unit are at the scene.
