TOKYO, Oct. 16 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks advanced Monday morning as investor sentiment was bolstered by a strong showing on Wall Street at the end of last week.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average added 132.94 points, or 0.63 percent, from Friday to 21,288.12.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, gained 15.45 points, or 0.90 percent, to 1,724.07.
Insurance, oil and coal product, and securities-linked issues comprised those that gained the most by the morning break.
