TOKYO, Oct. 11 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks advanced Wednesday morning as investor sentiment was buoyed by U.S. shares advancing overnight coupled by robust machinery orders here.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average added 46.73 points, or 0.22 percent, from Tuesday to 20,870.24.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, gained 0.89 point, or 0.05 percent, to 1,696.03.
Insurance, nonferrous metal and service-linked issues comprised those that gained the most by the morning break.
