ISLAMABAD, Oct. 4 (Xinhua) -- Pakistani army said on Wednesday that three more "hardcore terrorists" involved in terrorism have been executed.

An army statement said the convicts were involved in committing heinous offences relating to terrorism, including an attack on Pakistan International Airline (PIA) plane on Peshawar Airport, killing of innocent civilians, attacking armed forces of Pakistan and law enforcement agencies.

The terrorist were tried by the military courts and were sent to gallows at a jail of northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, the statement from the army's media wing Inter-Services Public Relations said.

The convicts admitted their offences before the magistrate and the trial court. They belonged to proscribed organizations.

The military courts were set up after the terrorist attack on an army school in December 2014 for the speedy trial of the terrorism-related accused. Nearly 150 people, mostly students, were killed in the brutal attack.

The parliament this year extended the period of military courts for two more years after its two-year term was expired earlier this year.

The convicts have the right of appeal against their punishment to the president, lawyers said. However, the president has rejected almost all appeals in view of the serious nature of terrorism-related crimes.
