TEHRAN, Oct. 2 (Xinhua) -- Iran's Foreign Ministry on Monday condemned the terrorist attacks in France's Marseille and in Canada's Edmonton that killed and injured a number of people.

Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qasemi expressed sympathy with the families of victims of the terror attacks, calling for global resolve to uproot terrorism.

"It is necessary that the human community and all countries in the world to effectively deal with this most-hated phenomenon," Qasemi was quoted as saying by Tasnim News Agency.

On Sunday, a man struck a police officer with a car before stabbing him in Edmonton of Canada and plowed a truck into pedestrians on a busy street, injuring at least four people.

Also on Sunday, a man killed two women in a frenzied knife attack at Marseille's main railway station before being shot dead by soldiers.

The Islamic State has claimed responsibility for the attack in France.
