Businessman shot dead in eastern Afghanistan

KHOST, Afghanistan, Sept. 14 (Xinhua) -- Unidentified armed men shot dead a businessman and injured two others in the eastern Afghan province of Khost, police official Faizullah Ghairat said Thursday.

The incident took place at around 7 a.m. local time in Mardikhil area of the provincial capital Khost city, 150 km southeast of Kabul, where the trader and two of his family members were on their way to Khost city.

"The trader who owned a big butchery and a super store was killed and two of his family members were wounded in the attack," said the official to Xinhua.

The attackers made their good escape, he added.
