NAIROBI, Aug. 29 (Xinhua) -- Kenya's women's cricket team have lined up a series of friendly international matches as part of their preparations for the upcoming ICC Africa Women World Twenty20 qualifiers.

The team, which have been training in Nairobi, are due to jet out for Pretoria, South Africa to play their hosts and a number of local clubs to sharpen their claws before facing the continent's best for the qualifier to the International Cricket Council (ICC) Africa Women's World Twenty20 tournament, which will be held in Windhoek, Namibia from September 6 to 17.

"This is a good exposure opportunity for the team and hopefully they will gain enough to secure qualification," said Cricket Kenya general manager Josephat Murithi on Monday.

Kenya also took part in the East Africa Regional Twenty20 quadrangular tournament in Nairobi that brought together teams from Uganda and Rwanda. The hosts won the event after beating Uganda by four wickets on Saturday.

Kenya will rely on the experience of top players like all-rounder Sarah Bhakita, captain Margret Banja, Queentor Aoko, Mary Wambui and Esther Wangare to deliver the wickets.

The ICC Africa Women World Twenty20 qualifiers will have teams from Zimbabwe, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania and hosts Namibia. Only one team will qualify to join South Africa for next year's ICC Women's World Twenty20 Championship in West Indies from Sept. 2-25.
