TOKYO, Aug. 2 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks advanced Wednesday morning, with buying supported by the Dow Jones Industrial Average closing at a fresh high overnight, with solid domestic earnings from listed companies adding to a buoyant mood.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average added 82.87 points, or 0.41 percent, from Tuesday to 20,068.66.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, gained 4.58 points, or 0.28 percent, to 1,633.08.
Iron and steel, electronic appliance and transportation equipment-linked issues comprised those that advanced the most by the morning break.
