OUAGADOUGOU, July 12 (Xinhua) -- Burkina Faso armed forces on Wednesday fought back heavily armed men close to its border with Mali, corroborating sources told Xinhua reporters in the capital Ouagadougou.

The armed men were repulsed after they shoot at regulars forces in the Konkuikoro village in a region prone to jihadist attacks.

According to local media, no casualties were reported in both sides.

This occurs as the West African country is gearing up for a national forum on homeland security in Ouagadougou in September.

Since 2015, Burkina Faso has faced a series of jihadist attacks, especially in the northern region where it shares a long border with Mali and Niger.
