TOKYO, July 22 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo shares opened lower Friday morning on weak U.S. stocks overnight as well as a stronger yen after chief of Japan's central bank ruled out the policy of "helicopter money" in which the central bank would directly buy national bonds from the government.

As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average fell 146.57 points, or 0.87 percent, from Thursday to 16,663.65.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was down 11.85 points, or 0.88 percent, to 1,327.54.

Decliners were led by security, marine transportation and mining issues.
