TOKYO, July 20 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo shares opened lower on Wednesday as investors sought to lock in recent gains following advance in the last six trading days.
As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average dropped 112.04 points, or 0.67 percent, from Tuesday to 16,611.27.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange slid 7.45 points, or 0.56 percent, to 1,323.94.
Decliners were led by miscellaneous product, iron and steel as well as non ferrous metal issues.
