TOKYO, July 20 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo shares closed lower Wednesday for the first time in seven trading days as investors sought to lock in gains following a six-day rise.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average ended down 41.42 points, or 0.25 percent, from Tuesday at 16,681.89.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange finished 0.64 points, or 0.05 percent, lower at 1,330.75.
Decliners were led by miscellaneous product, securities and mining issues.
The day's turnover was about 2,719.9 billion yen (around 25.62 billion U.S. dollars).
