Tokyo stocks lose ground in morning on profit taking after Wall Street's retreat

TOKYO, Dec. 21 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks lost ground Thursday morning after Wall Street's overnight retreat as investors took profits after the U.S. Congress passed a 1.5 trillion U.S. dollars tax reform bill.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average lost 85.44 points, or 0.37 percent, from Wednesday to 22,806.28.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, shed 3.02 points, or 0.17 percent, to 1,818.14.

Real estate, retail and insurance-oriented issues comprised those that declined the most by the morning break.
