TOKYO, Dec. 11 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks opened higher Monday as Wall Street's closing high late last week on solid U.S. jobs data for November set a positive tone here.

As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 47.33 points, or 0.21 percent, from Friday to 22,858.41.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, added 2.65 points, or 0.15 percent, to 1,806.38.

Oil and coal product, marine transportation and insurance issues comprised those that gained the most in the opening minutes after the morning bell.
