VALLETTA, Dec. 7 (Xinhua) -- Maltese citizens were among the most satisfied with their country and general quality of life in 2016, Maltese Prime Minister Joseph Muscat said, quoting a European survey published on Thursday.
The survey by Eurofound, an EU research agency, was aimed at gaining an insight into the quality of life of European citizens.
A vast range of topics were studied, with questions ranging from satisfaction with the government and the quality of public services, to whether or not people used online banking.
Among the categories highlighted by Muscat was whether respondents were worried about losing their job, where Malta had the lowest proportion of concerned citizens.
The Maltese showed the fourth highest level of trust in their government and their satisfaction with public services and the second highest level of satisfaction with the economy and the quality of education.
Maltese citizens were most likely to say they were satisfied with childcare, the quality of health and long-term care.
Muscat also pointed out that satisfaction with public transport was the eighth-lowest in the union, but noted that Malta had risen six places since the last survey.
