Civilian among 4 killed in N. Afghanistan fighting

SHIBERGHAN, Afghanistan, Nov. 28 (Xinhua) -- At least two IS militants, one army soldier and one civilian were killed and two civilians wounded, as clash erupted in Darzab district of Afghanistan's Jawzjan province, a local official said Tuesday.

"Militants loyal to the IS group launched offensive on police check-posts in Darzab district of the province Monday evening, but faced serious response from security forces, leaving two IS fighters, one national army soldier and one civilian dead and two more civilians wounded," provincial governor spokesman, Reza Ghafoori told Xinhua.

According to the source, some 700 IS militants, including 36 foreigners, are still operative in two districts of Qush Tepa and Darzab in the relatively troubled province.

The hardliner group has yet to make comment on the report.
