TOKYO, Nov. 16 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks extended gains Thursday morning as investors bought on dips following the Nikkei index's six-day losing streak and encouraged by a softer yen.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 182.13 points, or 0.83 percent, from Wednesday to 22,210.45.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, added 10.11 points, or 0.58 percent, to 1,754.12.
Information and communication, air transportation and retail-linked issues comprised those that gained the most by the morning break.
