BISHKEK, Nov. 6 (Xinhua) -- Ten people were killed in a serious traffic accident involving a car and a truck in Kyrgyzstan's southern region, the press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations reported on Monday.
In the accident, a Honda Stepwagon mini-van collided with a DAF truck on the Bishkek-Osh highway in Tash-Komur city of Jalal-Abad Oblast at midnight Monday. Among the victims, four men, three women and a 6-month-old child were killed on the scene.
Two injured died after they were taken to a local hospital, a source told Xinhua by phone.
According to the report, the truck driver failed to manage the truck and turned over. The truck then collided with the Honda Stepwagon.
The Bishkek-Osh highway is the only highway linking north and south of the country. The 650-kilometer-long road passes through mountainous areas at an altitude of over 3,000 meters above the sea level.
