TALUQAN, Afghanistan, Nov. 5 (Xinhua) -- Up to 10 villages have been cleared of Taliban militants, following Afghan forces operations in the northern province of Takhar, police spokesman in the province Abdul Khalil Aseer said Sunday.
The clearance operation was launched late on Saturday with the government forces driving militants out of 10 villages in the restive Eshkamish district, the official said, adding operation is continuing to evict militants from more areas in the district.
Taliban who are in control of parts of Takhar province are yet to make comment on the report.
