Palestine, Israel discuss joint financial understandings

RAMALLAH, Oct. 30 (Xinhua) -- High ranking Palestinian and Israeli officials met Monday to discuss joint financial understandings between both sides, the official Palestinian news agency reported.

The meeting was attended by Palestinian Prime Minister Rami Hamdalla, Finance Minister Shukri Bishara, Head of Civil Affairs Hussein Al-Shaikh and Head of General Intelligence Majid Faraj, together with Israeli Finance Minister Moshe Kahlon and Israeli government coordinator Yoav Mordechai.

They focused on financial issues and commercial arrangements between both sides.

The understandings were related to the financial entitlements of the Palestinian National Authority (PNA) withheld by the Israeli government and an electronic accounting mechanism, including banking operations and regulating water and electricity prices, quantities and capacity.

The meeting also tackled other political issues including settlement activity, settler violence against Palestinians, lifting the blockade on Gaza, opening the border crossings between West Bank and Jordan.
