TOKYO, Oct. 26 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks closed marginally higher Thursday on investor hopes for ongoing solid earnings results from corporations for the fiscal first half, but the market's top side was capped as some opted for profits following stocks' recent advances here.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 32.16 points, or 0.15 percent, from Wednesday to end the day at 21,739.78.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, added 2.47 points, or 0.14 percent, to close at 1,753.90.
Securities, oil and coal product, and transportation equipment-linked issues comprised those that gained the most by the close of play.
