U.S. stocks close lower amid earnings reports, economic data

NEW YORK, Oct. 23 (Xinhua) -- U.S. stocks ended lower on Monday as investors digested earnings reports as well as economic data.

The Dow lost 0.23 percent, and the S&P 500 erased 0.40 percent, while the Nasdaq decreased 0.64 percent.
