JAKARTA, Oct. 23 (Xinhua) -- A gunfight between policemen and alleged separatists near a gold and copper mine in Indonesia's easternmost province of Papua killed one policeman and injured four others, a police spokesman said on Monday.
"Five personals were shot, one of them was dead," national police spokesman Brigadier General Rikwanto said.
The wounded policemen were receiving medical treatment at a hospital, he was quoted by detik.com as saying in West Java province.
The Free Papua Movement or OPM has been seeking independence by insurgency.
The separatist group has frequently targeted solders, civilians and PT Freeport Indonesia, a U.S.-owned gold and copper mine operator in Papua province.
