MOGADISHU, Oct. 20 (Xinhua) -- At least two people were killed and two others injured in car bomb explosion on the outskirts of Somali capital Mogadishu on Friday evening, officials said.

A security official said a suicide bomber detonated Vehicle Borne Improvised Explosive Device (VBIED) at Karamel hotel in Hodan district in Mogadishu.

"It was VBIED attack aimed at killing the owner of a private vehicle outside Karmel hotel who was inside the hotel, but his brother and another passerby were injured. The casualties are not more," said the security officer who declined to be named.

The security officer said a suicide bomber was among the deceased. No group has claimed the responsibility for the latest attack which comes barely a week after more than 300 people were killed in twin bombings in the restive city.

Al-Shabaab, which is battling the UN-backed government, has not commented on the Oct. 14 deadly attack.
