BEIRUT, Oct. 18 (Xinhua) -- Lebanon's Internal Security Forces (ISF) said Wednesday in a statement that it has recovered a painting thought to be an original work by Spanish legendary artist Salvador Dali.

The ISF's International Crimes Prevention Bureau reportedly seized "Portrait of Mrs. Reeves" on Oct. 13 after investigations in the Cola area of Beirut and Dohat Aramoun in the Mount Lebanon's district of Aley, as part of the fight against the theft and trafficking of antiquities.

The bureau reported the arrest of four suspects, who were allegedly trying to sell the painting.

The ISF said the painting, reportedly finished in 1954, "had been stolen," and is likely to be "original and worth millions of dollars."

Salvador Dali was a prominent Spanish surrealist artist born in Figueres, Spain, in 1904. He died in 1989.
