BRUSSELS, Oct. 17 (Xinhua) -- The eurozone annual inflation was stable in September, compared with the previous month, data from the European Union's statistics office Eurostat showed Tuesday.

Eurostat said the inflation was 1.5 percent in September, the same as the flash estimate released on Sept. 29 and unchanged from the rate seen in August.

The biggest driver of inflation was the cost of energy, which went up by 3.9 percent. Processed food, alcohol and tobacco prices also increased by 2 percent.

Core inflation, which strips out those more volatile elements, decreased marginally to 1.1 percent from 1.2 percent in the previous month.
