NEW DELHI, Oct. 17 (Xinhua) -- Indian police in southern city of Bengaluru Tuesday released a photo of one of the suspects in murder of senior journalist Gauri Lankesh, officials said.

The photo of the suspect wearing helmet riding a bike has been produced from surveillance video footage recorded near Lankesh's house on the day of her murder.

Reports said the special investigation team (SIT) which is probing the case with the help of a laboratory in the U.S. got a video grab of the suspect enhanced to the maximum possible level.

Last week the investigators released sketches of three suspected killers and sought help from general public in nabbing them.

The 55-year-old Lankesh was shot dead last month outside her residence in the city by helmet-wearing, bike-borne gunmen. Her killing triggered country-wide protests and was seen as an attack on press.

Lankesh was critical of rightwing politics and her views were considered leftist.

She was editor of a vernacular weekly published in Kannada language and an outspoken activist.

According to reports, police have questioned over 250 people in connection with her murder.
