1st Vietnam Coffee Day to be held in Da Lat city

HANOI, Oct. 16 (Xinhua) -- The first Vietnam Coffee Day will be held in central highlands Da Lat city, Lam Dong province from Dec. 9-11, the municipal authorities said on Monday.

The three-day event will include an opening ceremony, a coffee space around Xuan Huong Lake which will display various coffee products, an international seminar on the new development period of Vietnam's coffee industry, and fact-finding tours to coffee production and processing models using high technology in Lam Dong.

The Vietnam has decided to choose Dec. 10 as Vietnam Coffee Day.

Vietnam's central highlands region has over 450,000 hectares of coffee trees, accounting for over 90 percent of the country's total.

Vietnam exported over 1.1 million tons of coffee worth more than 2.5 billion U.S. dollars in the first nine months of this year, down 20.5 percent in volume but up 1.3 percent in value against the same period last year, according to the country's Agriculture Ministry.
