NEW DELHI, Oct. 12 (Xinhua) -- A juvenile court in India has sentenced a boy to three years in a remand facility after holding him guilty of conspiracy in two serial bomb blasts in eastern state of Bihar four years back.

The two serial bomb blasts took place in state capital Patna and at a temple in the holy town of Bodhgaya in Bihar within a gap of six months.

The blasts at a political rally in Patna in October 2013, which targetted then Bharatiya Janata Party's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi, killed six people and injured over 90 others. However, no one was killed in the 10 minor bomb blasts in Bodhgaya six months ago.

"For the two serial bomb blasts, the juvenile justice court has convicted the minor for conspiracy and he will now have to serve three years in a remand facility," a senior official said Thursday.

According to Indian laws, juveniles (those below 18 years of age) can only be remanded to a reforms facility for a maximum of three years even if convicted in heinous crimes like murder, rape and bomb blasts.

The two serial bomb blasts were investigated by India's anti-terror agency, the National Investigation Agency. A total of 11 persons were arrested for Patna blasts, while six were held for their alleged involvement in Bodhgaya blasts.

Trial of other men in the two cases are going on and some of them face a maximum of death penalty if convicted.
