TOKYO, Oct. 5 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks opened marginally higher Thursday as three U.S. equity indexes finishing at fresh record highs overnight brightened the market mood here.
As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 30.93 points, or 0.15 percent, from Wednesday to 20,657.59.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, added 1.76 points, or 0.10 percent, to 1,686.32.
Electricity and gas, food, and fishery, agriculture and forestry-linked issues comprised those that advanced the most in the opening minutes of trade.
