GAZA, Oct. 4 (Xinhua) -- Palestinian Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah vowed Wednesday to boost economic growth in Gaza Strip, in a meeting with dozens of businessmen from Gaza.

"Economic growth in Gaza Strip will boost the Palestinian economy as a whole," Hamdallah said in the meeting also attended by a number of cabinet ministers.

Information officer of Gaza's Chamber of Commerce Maher Al-Tabba' told Xinhua that the businessmen underlined the importance of governmental support to the reconstruction of Gaza and work to lift restrictions on access of building and construction material into the Strip.

Al-Tabba' also said businesspeople demanded to end the crises in Gaza Strip, particularly that of the electricity, "which negatively affects life and paralyzes all economic sectors."

The official said that the meeting ordered to set up a quick mechanism to open Rafah border crossing between Gaza and Egypt and guarantee exchange of goods and people.

In response, Hamdallah promised to study all the demands presented by the businessmen in the next cabinet meeting next week.

Hamdallah and his cabinet ministers as well as chiefs of security arrived in Gaza on Monday, the first visit since December 2014, to take over responsibilities in the coastal enclave from the Hamas movement.
