ISLAMABAD, Sept. 30 (Xinhua) -- One soldier and two civilians were killed overnight by unprovoked Indian forces' shelling across Kashmir ceasefire line, Pakistan's Army said Saturday.
"Indian troops resorted to unprovoked ceasefire violation along LOC (Line of Control) in Rakhchikri, Rawalakot targeting civil population with heavy weapons," a statement from the army's media wing Inter-Services Public Relations said.
An army patrolling party assisting evacuation of civilian casualties also came under the Indian firing, resulting in the killing of a soldier while three soldiers got injured, the statement said.
Pakistan's Army troops gave a befitting response to Indian army posts which engaged civil population, the statement said, adding there are reports of casualties on the Indian side.
Pakistan and India had declared ceasefire along the LoC in the disputed Kashmir region and the Working Boundary in 2003. Both, however, routinely accuse each other of violating the ceasefire.
