RAMALLAH, Sept. 23 (Xinhua) -- Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas said on Saturday that Hamas movement's dissolving of its administrative committee in the Gaza Strip has met the Palestinian leadership's demands.

Abbas made the remarks at a meeting he chaired for his Fatah Party's Central Committee at Palestianian leadership headquarters in Ramallah.

The meeting discussed the development in the reconciliation process with Hamas movement, as well as Abbas speech he made before the United Nations General Assembly.

"What Hamas had announced met our demands, which is dissolving the committee and enable the consensus government to perform in Gaza until holding legislative and presidential elections," Abbas told the meeting.

Abbas said the Palestinian leadership and all its establishments will deeply discuss the results that he achieved in the United Nations, besides the Palestinian reconciliation.

Last week, Hamas announced that it dissolved the administrative committee formed to run the daily affairs in the Gaza Strip, as a result of the mediation by Egypt. The creation of the committee angered Abbas, who took unprecedented sanctions against the Gaza Strip.

Hamas called on the consensus government of Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah to come to Gaza and carry out its duties, adding it will accept holding the general elections in the Palestinian territories.

Hamas' declaration was made in Cairo as a high-ranking delegation headed by its chief Ismail Haneya held talks for 11 days with Egyptian security intelligence chiefs to end Palestine's internal rift and achieve reconciliation.
