KIEV, Sept. 22 (Xinhua) -- The international military exercises Rapid Trident-2017 wrapped up on Friday in Ukraine's western Lviv region, the Ukrainian Defense Ministry said.

As expected, about 2,500 military personnel from Ukraine and 14 other countries have participated in the drills, which were held at the Yavoriv International Peacekeeping and Security Training Center, the ministry said in a statement.

During the exercises, the troops have performed a series of preparatory and practical tasks, including the arrangement of operations, defensive activities under various conditions, counteraction to sabotage actions and cooperation with the local population, among others.

The Rapid Trident-2017 kicked off on Sept. 11 with the participation of troops from Ukraine, the United States, Canada, Bulgaria, Georgia, Estonia, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Norway, Poland, Romania, Turkey, and Britain.

The Rapid Trident maneuvers have been conducted annually in Ukraine since 2006 under NATO's Partnership for Peace program. They are designed to boost interaction between the participating nations and exchange professional experiences among their troops.
