ISLAMABAD, Sept. 6 (Xinhua) -- Four Pakistani universities have been ranked among the top 1,000 universities of the world, according to the 14th annual edition of the Times Higher Education World University Rankings, according to local reports.
The list indicates a decline in the country's ranking as last year seven universities made it to the top 1,000, Dawn News reported late Tuesday.
A positive thing which was witnessed in this year's ranking was that Quaid e Azam University Islamabad that was in 601-800 band at the list last year, has now been included in top 500.
Other three universities include COMSATS Institute of Information Technology, the National University of Sciences and Technology in the 601-800 band, and the University of Agriculture, Faisalabad in the 801+ group.
Times Higher Education Global Rankings Editorial Director Phil Baty termed lack of Pakistani universities in the list "disappointing" and said that education system is suffering in the country due to lack of funding.
