ISLAMABAD, Sept. 5 (Xinhua) -- The University of Karachi decided on Tuesday to share students' data with intelligence agencies after one of its students was found involved in a murder plot of a senior politician, local Urdu media reported.

The university's vice chancellor held a meeting with senior faculty members, during which it was decided that every student will be demanded police character certificate upon admission in the institute, Dunya News said.

Earlier on Saturday, a senior leader of Muttahida Qaumi Movement escaped an assassination attempt while his bodyguard got killed outside a mosque in Karachi.

Police said that the mastermind of the assassination attempt was a student of the Karachi University.

Police also suspected that a group of students, associated with banned outfits, are active in the university.
