Indonesia sends best cyclists to vie in Australia

JAKARTA, Sept. 5 (Xinhua) -- Five Indonesian best down-hill cyclists will vie in an international mountain bike championship in Australia this week, team manager disclosed here on Tuesday.

Manager of Indonesian team Budi Saputra revealed on Tuesday that the team, comprising four men and one woman, will compete in the 2017 Mountain Bike World Championship in Cairns of Australia from September 6 to 10.

"According to plan, all the cyclists will leave for Australia today (Tuesday)," he said.

The manager said that he had told the cyclists to give their best performance and boost capability in the international sport event.

Among the nations which will take part in the championship are South Africa, the United States, Canada, Austria, Japan and Thailand.

Chairman of Indonesian Sport Cycling Association Raja Sapta said that it would keep sending the country's cyclists to international sport events in an effort to boost their capability and skill prior to the Asian Games next year the country.

Indonesia has set a target of victory in cycling sport in the Asian Games, according to him.
